Things I've worked through properly and written up. Built to understand them — kept in case they're useful to someone else.
From pressing Enter to the page appearing — DNS resolution, where the site is hosted, the TCP/IP stack, the HTTP request itself, and how the response is split into packets and routed across the network. Animated, with a DNS lookup you can trace step by step.
